NDC, or New Distribution Capability, is an industry standard developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) aimed at enhancing the way air travel is sold and distributed. NDC was created to provide airlines with the ability to distribute their products and services more effectively. It allows airlines to offer rich content and personalised offers directly to travel agents and customers.

NDC is based on XML (eXtensible Markup Language) and facilitates the exchange of data between airlines and travel agents. This technology enables the transmission of detailed information about fares, seat availability, and ancillary services.

Virgin Atlantic currently develops and supports the NDC 21.3 API Schema.

NDC 21.3 Schema Assets

You can obtain the XSD schema for the Virgin Atlantic NDC 21.3 API from the File Assets page. Click here to access the page .

On this page, you have the option to download individual API XSDs for specific needs, or, for convenience, you can download the zip file that contains all API XSDs at once. This allows you to quickly access all the necessary schemas for your integration.

Authentication

The HTTP header must include your API Client Key to grant access to the API. This would have been provided to you as part of the NDC API Access process. Ensure that these headers are passed correctly in your HTTP connector. 

We make a POST call to all of our API endpoints and below are the headers required for each API. Also, We utilise a RESTful connection for API communication
